Reflection: Seventh Grade

When I first arrived at school in August, I expected seventh grade to be a nightmare. And soon realized it was everything expected it to be. The teachers were scary, the homework was overwhelming, and my grades were dropping. How will I get through this one? I thought to myself.

By October, my life was in pieces! The teachers would spit out seven paragraphs in a second and expect me done with the notes before I could even process everything they had just said. They would make us do things that I couldn’t understand, and then build off of that. But worst of all there were absurd do dates for stunningly big projects and so much homework on no homework nights that was do in two days, that it would be suicide not to do half on each day.

However, Eventually I figured out that it wasn’t as bad as I had thought and that I could learn new ways to make school way easier. To have less homework I learned to do as much as I could in class and the rest in Wildcat time. And if there was still more, I had time on the bus and at home. To help me with my grades I learned to study every night and that the way to finish big projects on time was to not procrastinate. But the three main things were to be responsible, organized, but mainly to not procrastinate.

If I had to do it over again I would study every night and to not procrastinate. Which is my exact advise to next years seventh graders.

Christmas Morning

I wake to a calm pleasant morning with a feeling that I forgot something. I tell myself it’s nothing and start to shut my eyes. And then I remember! It’s Christmas! Scrambling out of bed I begin to bolt out the halls and yell as I pass the bedroom doors, IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!

When I get down stairs, I become overwhelmed with happiness! When I look at the ground, I see presents beautifully wrapped presents with fancy red bows. When I look at the mantle, I see hanging stockings that are stuffed with so many toys and candy that I think they’ll burst at any moment. When I look at the hearth, I see an empty milk cup next to an empty cookie plate with a note attached to it. And when I look at the tree I see how pretty all the ornaments and lights look. And then I know that it’s a good Christmas.

My Favorite Poem

My favorite poem is called Where the Sidewalk Ends by: Shel Silverstein. I like this poem because it shows great imagery and hooks you in to make you want to read it.

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we’ll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we’ll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends.

My Favorite Toy

When I was little, I just couldn’t live without my Legos. They meant the world to me and were the very best. They came in many sizes and shapes too! So that you could make things with them. When I played had my Legos I would play with them for hours a day. My Legos and I were inseparable! To me, they were the best toys ever! Without Legos, I don’t know where or what I’d be. And I will always cherish the memories of playing with them as a little kid.

Why You Should come to Austin

There’s Festivals like ACL and South by Southwest. Places to see like the capital or the Formula 1 racetrack. And good resteraunts to eat at like Rudy’s BBQ and Home Slice Pizza. Wow you should come to Austin!

First off, the festivals and events are amazing! Like I said before you can go to ACL, South by Southwest, or even go to the F-1 track and watch some races. If went to someplace like in Idaho you wouldn’t find any of that stuff. However if you came to Austin you could find all of that! And more!

Other cool things they have in Austin are resteraunts like Chuy’s, Mighty Fine, Rudy’s, or even Matt’s El Rancho! One of the best things about Texas is that they have great Tex-Mex food. So if you ever come to Texas, that’ll come in handy. Once again if you went to Idaho the Tex-Mex food would not be as good.

Anyway the point is that Texas is the way to go!

My Family

My family is huge! I have a little brother named Sam, a mom as well as a dad. Also if you count pets as family I’ve had 2 dogs, one named Bo and the other named Ben. However those are just the family members that I lived or lived with.

My dad’s side is mostly in Louisiana. On my dad’s side I have have grandparents, great-grandparents, uncles and great-uncles. My dad even has cousins that have kids. All that together leaves me with more cousins than I can count. Though that’s just one of my ginormous family!

My mom has family from far and wide! Family in Oklahoma, family in Chicago Illinois, family in Wisconsin, family in San Diego California and even here in Austin! I have tons of relatives on my mom’s side. So much that like my dad’s side, I don’t even know all of them! Anyway the point is that I have a lot of family! A lot!

Why Airplanes Are The Best Way to Travel: Revised

Taking you to an abundance of places far and wide, and providing you comfort that cannot be matched. Wow! Airplanes really are the best way to travel!

First off, not only can airplanes take you to far away places, they take you there fast too, real fast. Especially compared to boats and trains for example, if you were to travel by boat to Russia so that you could see the Olympics, it would take weeks-maybe even a month. However if you traveled by plane you would reach Russia in around 12 hours. So not only do airplanes take you to places far away, but they are also the best choice in many ways.

Another reason that makes airplanes are a good means of transportation is flying comfortably, the first class seats. First class makes it all the more enjoyable! It’s like a whole other story! First class has great air conditioning, tasty refreshments, comfy chairs, free movies, lots of leg room, and if you’re lucky complementary warm towelettes. It’s less of an airplane and more of a palace in the sky.

The point is that airplanes are the way to go! So you don’t have to try everything fun or every refreshment, and it doesn’t matter wether you’re in 1st class or worst class. Airplanes can take you to places far away and can keep you comfortable aswell.

Expository Writing: Why Airports are Enjoyable

Candy, gift cards, toys, restaurants, and bookstores! Wow airports have a lot of cool stuff!

First off airports have great food! Last time I went to one, they had places like Starbucks, T.G.I Fridays, Pizzahut, TCBY, and even subway. Dang that’s a lot of food! With all those places alone, there’s an abundance of food at every stop.

Another reason why airports are essential is that they have well, airplanes of course. They take you to places far far away. Plus both airports and airplanes have free wifi. But the. Best part of an airplane is that they have first class seats. First class makes it all the more enjoyable! It’s like a whole other story! First class has great air conditioning, tasty refreshments, comfy chairs, and if you’re lucky complementary warm towelettes. It’s less of an airplane and more of a palace in the sky. But if you’re not in first class that’s ok too.

The point is that airports are essential. So you don’t have to try everything fun or every restaurant at an airportIt, and it doesn’t matter wether you’re in 1st class or worst class. The point is that airports are essential.

Concrete Writing

Splash, splash, splash. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Pushing through crowds of people, avoiding building debris, sprinting up the hills, rounding sharp corners, and running through alleys, as fast as I could. I had to get away. I just had to…..

A Hurricane had come to where I lived. In AUSTIN TEXAS!!! We don’t get much rain to begin with!! Anyway the hurricane filled up all o our mostly dried lake and creek beds. But then it started to overflow everywhere, with major flash floods and more and more raining! It caused a mini tsunami. It was on the 3rd day. Yes that’s right it lasted several days, and came in massive waves. It would go on for hours and then fade away showing the warm pleasant sun. The sun that we longed for.

This wasn’t right. Something was wrong. This wasn’t your typical hurricane, and wasn’t your typical hurricane location either. It lasted quite long to, and came in massive waves. Though floods were getting bigger. They lasted longer aswell. Chaos was beginning to break out. Flights and trains to leave were booked, but most were cancelled. You can guess why. People needed to get out. Food was getting scarce. That’s why I had to get away. I just had to…

The Mall

I like the mall because it’s a place where you can have fun, eat, hang out with friends, and watch movies. They have candy stores that I could die for, and a food court with some great restaurants! They have free samples that taste great, And an ice cream place that is out of this world! You can even get a giant pretzel or a cookie cake! My favorite part of the mall though is the movie theatre. Mainly because I love everything they have there. I love the popcorn. I love the candy. I love the drinks. And OBVIOUSLY I love the movies. Anyway that is why I love the mall and I hope you would now consider going there after reading this.
